TUESDAY - Feb. 5

LifeShare Blood Center is holding a community blood drive from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Southern Arkansas University, 100 East University, Magnolia, AR.

The 2019 CCS soup and chili supper is from 5 - 7 p.m. at the CCS gymnasium. All you can eat chili, soup, cornbread, crackers, beverages, and desserts are available for $10 for adults and $5 for children 9 and under. Drive-thru and take-out will be available.

WEDNESDAY - Feb. 6

Cara Cox, opioid grant project director for the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership (ARHP), will be the speaker at the next HEALTH in Columbia County Coalition meeting on at noon. HEALTH Coalition meetings are held in the reception area of the McAlester Building, 124 S. Jackson Street. When you walk in the front door, it will be on your left. Feel free to bring your lunch. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month at noon. Meetings are open to the public.

SATURDAY - Feb. 9

The Union County Master Gardeners Community Education Project is offering a short class “Starting Seeds, Using a Homemade Seed Box.” The presentation will be on at 10 a.m. at Yocum Primary School in the Science Lab. Master Gardener Barbie Luther will demonstrate how to build a seed starting box and give general tips on seed starting. The completed seed starting box will be given away as a door prize. The public is invited to attend. Please park in the lot behind the main building, near the science lab, at 1103 W. Cedar.

TUESDAY - Feb. 12

The Southwest Arkansas Bluegrass association will be held at 7 p.m. in the Bethel Fellowship Hall of the Bethel Church, 131 Bethel Road in Magnolia, AR. Pickers, singers, and listeners of acoustic bluegrass music are most welcome to come and participate. For more information, call 870-904-2817.

SUNDAY - Feb. 17

The public is cordially invited to attend United Community Organization’s annual African Heritage Extravaganza at 5 p.m. Tickets are $30.00. The option to purchase a table that seats 10 is $300.00. Tickets are on sale now at Blackmon’s Barber and Beauty Salon located at 620 Calhoun Road in Magnolia. For more information, please contact Kizmet Davis at (870) 904-7435. Proceeds from this event go towards our annual Juneteenth Festival and other community activities.

SATURDAY - Feb. 23

The 20th anniversary of the South Arkansas Kennel Club Dog Show and Obedience Trials, Rally, and Lure Coursing. Show time is between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out.
