Nine Magnolia Panthers were recently named to the Class 5A-South All-Conference and Class 5A All-State football teams.

First-year head coach Mark King led the Panthers to the Class 5A state playoffs and finished with an overall 7-4 record.

Magnolia also finished in a three-way tie for second place in the conference with a 5-2 mark.

Braelyn Beasley and Shawn Bell were named to the all-state and all-conference teams.

Panthers earning all-conference honors were Amir Cooper, James’Darius Smith, DeMarco Walker, Joseph Goza, Travasio Pearson, Curtis Hamilton and Robert Mack.

King recently said, “No one expected Magnolia to finish 7-3 on the season, 5-2 in conference or make the playoffs. That’s what happened and we had a great year, with a lot of positive things to build on.”
