Virgie Haynes Kelly, 88, of Magnolia passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Community Compassion Center of Magnolia.

She was born on June 19, 1931, in Waldo to the late John William Haynes and Carrie Lucinda (White) Haynes.

Virgie worked for several years at Quality Shoe Store on the Magnolia Square before she went to work at Walmart when they first opened in Magnolia. She retired from Walmart after 40-plus years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Kelly; seven siblings, (brothers) Isaiah Haynes, J.C. Haynes, Albert Haynes, Junior Haynes, and H.L. Haynes; (sisters) Leona Haynes Watters Evers, and Shirley Haynes Moore; two nephews, Jerry L. Haynes and Jackie Haynes; and a niece Janie H. Lewis Parks.

Virgie is survived by her nephews, Jimmie R. Haynes of Ennis, Texas, Bill Haynes, Kenneth G. Haynes, George R. Haynes all of Boutte, Louisiana, John W. Haynes of Magnolia, Arkansas; nieces, Karen H. Parks of Bossier City, Louisiana, Patsy W. Roberts of Springhill, Louisiana, Connie H. Bovingdon Scholtens of Slidell, Louisiana, Brenda Sue Kennedy of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Barbara Moore Erlandson of Montana; sisters in law, Helen Haynes of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Corrie May Haynes of Boutte, Louisiana; and a host of extended family of great nieces and great nephews and friends.

Funeral services held at 10 am on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Seabaugh and Bro. Steve Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Virgie’s nephews and family.
