The Magnolia Cubs and Lady Cubs captured the South District Track & Field Championships held recently at Camden Fairview.
The Lady Cubs scored 263 points, well-ahead of second place Hot Springs Lakeside’s 147. Hot Springs (80) was third, followed by Camden Fairview (46) and Hope (45).
The Cubs piled up 192 points to take first place,ahead of Hot Springs Lakeside’s 176. Camden Fairview (93) was third, followed by Hot Springs (68) and Hope (64).
Athletes claiming first place in individual events included Taahir Banks in the long jump, with a leap of 19 feet, 2 inches and Darrell Jones in the 800m with a time of 2:19.03.
For the Lady Cubs, Ti’Alone Banks placed first in the 100m with a time of 13.16; 200m in 27.11; and 400m in 1:01.76. The 4x400m relay team of Satiya Rone, Anyri Wright, Tanyia Turner and Banks finished ahead of the field with a winning time of 4:39.51.
Rone won the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches and Adrianna Brewer took the long jump with 15 feet, 9 inches. Brewer also captured the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 10 inches, while Latasia Thomas took the shot put with a toss of 39 feet, 5 inches.
Emily Baskin won the discus throw with a toss of 79 feet, 7 inches.
