Southern Arkansas University is competing in the the 2019 Great American Conference Golf Championships today at the Hot Springs Country Club. The event started Sunday and will continue through Tuesday.

The Muleriders are coming off the Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs last week, where they finished third overall. The Lady Muleriders placed 17th in the Central Region Spring Preview in Springfield, MO.

At Heber Springs, Mulerider Kade Johnson shot a 65 for the round, which brought his total score to 136. His 65 is the best round in the program’s NCAA Division II history and was two strokes off first place. Teammate Calum Graham shaved two strokes off from the first round, shooting a 72 to finish with a 146 and in a tie for 20th place.

Roman Timmerman and Kevin Elder finished tied for 23rd, shooting a 150. Garrett Davis and James Drake, golfing as individuals, shot a second round 74 and 84 to finish 34th and 39th, respectively.

Lady Mulerider Bailey Carr shot an 81 each time during the two-day event in Missouri, leaving her in a tie for 40th. Mackenzy Turner, after shooting a day one 77, shot a 92 in the second round to put her in a tie for 69th on the leaderboard.

Olivia Faught shaved four strokes off her first round, turning in an 86 and a 176 for the tournament. Klarissa Villanueva finished one stroke back of her teammate, finishing with a 177 over the two rounds. Kensey Dukes improved by eight strokes, shooting a day-two 87.
