Defendants receive prison sentences

Several prison sentences were handed down Thursday by Circuit Judge David W. Talley Jr. during Columbia County Circuit Court Criminal Division. Deputy Prosecutor Ryan Phillips represented the state, with Robert Jeffrey serving as public defender.

•Brett Wilson pleaded guilty to Columbia County charges of felon in possession of firearm and probation revocation, and Phillips said the state would not prosecute charges of habitual offender. He pleaded guilty to Ouachita County charges of delivery of controlled substance (Schedule III), which had been transferred to Columbia County.

Phillips said the state would not be filing charges on an additional case, according to the plea agreement.

Wilson was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections on felon in possession of firearm and 10 years in the ADC on the delivery of controlled substance charge. The two sentences are to run consecutively for a 16-year sentence. On the probation revocation charge, he received five years suspended imposition of sentencing. In addition, he was ordered to pay court costs and fees.

Wilson was given credit for 216 days pre-trial incarceration.

•Jessie Manning had earlier entered a plea agreement with the state, with sentencing delayed. He pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substance (crack cocaine) with intent, possession of controlled substance (marijuana) with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a drug premises. The state did not prosecute charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearm and alcohol sale in a dry county.

He received a total sentence of 15 years in the ADC and five years SIS, and was ordered to pay costs and fees. Manning was given credit for six days pre-trial incarceration.

•Judge Talley accepted a plea entered on April 3, 2014 for Diamond Talley, and he received a total sentence of 11 years in the ADC. Diamond Talley was charged with residential burglary, theft of property (firearm) and theft of property over $1,000. The state did not prosecute charges of furnishing a deadly weapon to a minor. In addition, he received five years SIS, and was ordered to pay costs and fees.

•Terrance Booker pleaded guilty to breaking or entering and attempted theft of property over $5,000. He received three years in the ADC on the breaking or entering charge and five years SIS on the attempted theft charge, and was ordered to pay costs and fees. He was given credit for 111 days pre-trial incarceration.

•Antoine Young was sentenced to two years in the ADC with a judicial transfer to Arkansas Community Corrections on charges of probation revocation. In addition, he received five years SIS with the condition that he obtain his GED.

•Robert Parrish pleaded true to charges that he violated probation. He was sentenced to two years in the ADC with a judicial transfer to ACC, and five years SIS. He was given credit for 44 days pre-trial incarceration.

•After a hearing, it was determined that Bertha McBride was guilty of probation violation. She was sentenced to two years in the ADC with a judicial transfer to ACC, along with five years SIS. She was given credit for 29 days pre-trial incarceration.
