DOYLE N. SHORE

Doyle Nelson Shore, 83 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1935 in Cooleemee, North Carolina to the late William Henry Shore and Millie Beatrice “Pete” (Ellenburg) Shore.

Doyle proudly served his country in the United States Navy serving for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cuban Blockade. He served on 6 different navy ships as Radioman and Signalman. After his retirement from the navy, he and his family moved to Magnolia, Arkansas in 1972. He was a general contractor in construction, a real estate agent, a deputy for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department where he was active with the mounted patrol, and was also active with the Boys and Girls Club.

He loved his family dearly. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling. He, his wife, and daughter traveled to all 50 states.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son Doyle Nelson Shore, Jr.; son, William “Billy” Shore; sisters, Helen Bean, Colene Williams, Nellie Adams, and Cynthia West; and brothers, William “Jack” Shore and Marvin “Leroy” Shore.

Doyle is survived by his wife Gwendolyn “Gay” Shore of Magnolia, AR; daughter Wanda Engstrom and husband Ernie of Carrollton, TX; son David Shore and wife Linda of Hope, AR; grandchildren, Andy Ludwig and wife Stacey of Dallas, TX, Terri Mayberry and husband James of Magnolia, AR, Michelle Shore of Hutto, TX, Jim Engstom and wife Shelly of Benton, AR, Daniel Engstrom and wife Abigail of Prague, OK, Chris Engstrom and wife Pricilla of Carrollton, TX, Tiffany Delgado and husband Robert of Palmer, TX, and Grant Kirkpatrick and wife Ashley of Bentonville, AR; 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Lewis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eric Goble officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Pallbearers will be Andy Ludwig, Jim Engstom, Chris Engstrom, Chance Engstrom, Chris Chisholm, and James Mayberry.
