The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released regional rankings for Division II Football on Monday afternoon and among the top eight spots in Super Region 3 (SR3) is No. 21 Southern Arkansas which appeared at No. 6 in the season’s initial region standings.
Southern Arkansas is a part of the four-conference, 41-team Super Region 3 and is one of three Great American Conference schools ranked in the first regional standings of 2018. The GAC is joined by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
The top seven teams in SR3 at the end of the regular season advance to the NCAA Division II Playoffs with the top seed receiving an opening round bye.
The Muleriders (7-1, 7-1 GAC) face a critical neutral site contest this Saturday in El Dorado, Arkansas, at the 10th annual Murphy USA Classic. Henderson State travels down to Union County to face nationally-ranked SAU in a 2 p.m. kickoff from Memorial Stadium.
