MHS Panther’s Homecoming Queen crowned

Panther Arena Friday afternoon was filled with students, as well as family members and friends of the court, to watch the annual Magnolia High School Homecoming Crowning Ceremony.

In a week full of school spirit-related festivities, the formal gathering served as one of the final events before Friday’s Panther football game against Little Rock McClellan.

With the arena floor decorated in glowing lights and glistening backgrounds, each of the 26 senior, junior and sophomore maids were introduced, along with their football escorts. The court itself is assembled as Homecoming dates of the senior Panthers gridiron athletes, with the queen voted upon by the same group.

This year, MHS Senior Ashlyn Garrett was elected as homecoming queen. Her escort was Panther defensive standout Stephon O’Guinn.

The entire court was made up of 19 seniors, five juniors, and two sophomores.

The honor maids were: seniors Claudia Franks and Brittany Yates; juniors Jamiah Curry and Kiarra Frazier; and sophomores Keshunti Brantley and Hallie Kate May.

The Senior maids were: Annabelle Babbitt, Chyna Beasley, A’Niya Blanks, Kennedy Byers, Alexis Carson, Kedajah Curry, Trazanna Davis, Kristyn Hardy, Tracey Jackson, Asia Jacobs, Caitlyn McCormack, Amya Reeves, Tynia Wesley, and Ella Williams, with senior student trainers Brianna Owen and Autumn Scruggs.

The juniors maids were: Dequaisha Roy, Raedeisha Tucker, and Zyair Webb.

To complete Homecoming week, a dance at Panther Arena was scheduled Saturday night.
