Hamp Ponder Smith, 77, of Magnolia died October 08, 2018, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.
He was born February 22, 1941, to Cargie Nash and Alene V. Smith.
He was preceded in death by mothers Cargie Nash and Alene V. Smith; sister Minnie Jean Reeves and a father-in-law.
He is survived by wife Barbara Smith of 35 years. Sons Elvis P. Smith, Kester Johnson; daughter Letetia Johnson; two grandchildren; a mother-in-law; four brothers-in-law: four sisters-in-law, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and faithful members of unity AME Church.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Unity AME Church in Magnolia (Free Hope Community).
Interment will be at New Bethel-St. John Cemetery in Magnolia with Rev. Arthur Coulter as Clergy.
Visitation is Friday, October 12, 2018, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Marks Funeral Home in Magnolia.
