Sarah Louise Shepherd, 65, of Atlanta, AR - wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many - went to be with her Lord and savior on October 3, 2018.
Sarah was born on March 25, 1953 to Joel Odell Womack and Lila Marie Raines. She was blessed to be the oldest of six siblings.
Sarah is preceded in death by her father, her brother, David Odell Womack and sister, Rose Mary Smith.
Sarah is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Richard Mack Shepherd, her mother, Lila Marie Raines, brother Daniel Clinton Womack, sisters Linda Marie Womack, and Bobbie Marie James, two step-children; Adam Owen Shepherd and Dusty Lee Shepherd, and three children; James Luther Pierce Jr., Jennifer Lynn Chambers and Travis Wayne Pierce. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grand children as well as two step-brothers, a step-sister, countless in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Sarah was a loyal member of Atlanta Hilltop Baptist Church, a retired office manager from Dr. Epperson’s optometry clinic, and a cherished member of AR-1 DMAT. A volunteer fire fighter and a licensed EMT, Sarah lived to serve others and reveled in any chance for an adventure. Her family and her friends will mourn her loss forever.
Sarah had requested a “Celebration of life” in her honor, which will be held at the barn on November 18 beginning at 2 p.m. and lasting through the evening. She wanted everyone who was ever a part of her life to come and share your memories of her with others. Please feel free to brings pictures and memorabilia.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the LifeTouch Hospice House in El Dorado where Sarah spent her last few days. They did everything they could to make her passing a little more bearable and their efforts cannot be applauded enough
