County’s Conservation District awards MFD grant

On November 9, 2018, the Columbia County Conservation District awarded the Magnolia Fire Department with a Conservation Project Grant. Fire Chief Greg Pinner shared with Dr. Mark Bryan, President of the Columbia County Board of Directors, that this grant will allow the Magnolia Fire Department to outfit a second truck with the necessary equipment for forest and brush fires.

The Conservation Project Grant Program is for individuals, groups, or organizations in Columbia County who are dedicated to conservation efforts and who have an idea or event designed to improve the natural resources in our county. Grant applications can be obtained at the Columbia County Conservation District office, located in the Reynolds Building Room 102J on the Southern Arkansas University Campus, or on our website at www.columbiacountycd.com.

The Columbia County Conservation District is governed by a board of five Columbia County landowners who are familiar with the conservation challenges in Columbia County. The District’s objectives are to focus attention on land and water resource problems, to develop programs to resolve these problems, and to coordinate the efforts of individuals, agencies, organizations, and institutions with conservation interests. The Board of Directors meets on the last Wednesday of the month at Noon in the conference room at Story Arena. All meetings are open to the public.
