ANABEL L. MOORE

Anabel Lee Moore was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 19, 1947, and she passed away on November 1, 2018. A memorial service will be held in her honor Wednesday, November 7, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Stamps, 315 Church Street, with a visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Shortly after Anabel’s birth, she was literally handpicked for adoption at Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in New Orleans by her parents Oren and Madlyn Moore, who adored their beautiful baby girl. Anabel grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana, a precocious only child begrudgingly taking piano and etiquette lessons, as young ladies were expected to do. After graduating from Bolton High, she attended Louisiana Tech University. Soon she married and started a family, moving to Magnolia.

There she was active in Central Baptist Church, making lifelong friends. Often described as “the life of the party,” Anabel loved being a homemaker and mother and having her kids’ friends constantly running through her home. However, her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She loved attending dance recitals and sporting events, shopping and fishing, and generally playing any crazy game they devised!

About twenty years ago, she moved to Stamps, and established a new life of her own, quickly making friends and becoming the favorite of neighborhood children. She volunteered at her church, where she loved working in the nursery, teaching children’s church, and organizing meals for grieving families. She was active in the Lafayette County Republican Party, attending rallies and distributing brochures. She also helped distribute food for the needy through Harvest Texarkana Lafayette County each month. If anyone in her neighborhood sneezed, she showed up with a fresh baked loaf of homemade Asphodel bread or her delicious chocolate pie. She drove countless friends to doctors’ appointments and sat with them through medical treatments. She loved being with people, making them laugh, and lightening their burdens.

Later in life she connected to her birth mother’s family, who were thrilled to find a connection to the family’s favorite Aunt Nell who had never had other children and had passed away the prior year.

Anabel was preceded in death by her parents Oren Oliver Moore and Madlyn Moore. Anabel is survived by her daughter Michelle White Osborn and husband Andy of Shreveport; son Michael John White and his girlfriend Tracy Rothwell of Magnolia; grandchildren Madeline and Mary Osborn, North Lewis, Taylor Hight, and Range White, Lily and Wyatt Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to a charity or church of your choosing.

Cremation services were provided by Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.
