Earnest Pickings III, 70, of McNeil died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Pickings was born November 19, 1947, in Springhill, La. He was the son of the late Earnest D. and the late Jessie (Jackson) Pickings.
Pickings was an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word. He was a printer, broadcaster, and was actively involved in various civic groups. He loved music and was a member of the group the Southern Gospel Aires.
He is survived by wife Mary Simmons Pickings; son Ben’jear Pickings; daughters Tamizene Smith, Leticia Harris and Yumeaka Pickings; six grandchildren and sister Wanda Pickens.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Columbia Baptist District Center, Youngblood Auditorium, 611 S. Madison, Magnolia. Burial will follow at Kings Hill Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 15, noon-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
