PATSY SUE YATES

Patsy Sue Yates, 83, of Emerson passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Wentworth Place in Magnolia.

She was born February 27, 1934, in Columbia County to George Washington Dodson and Addie Lee (Cochran) Dodson. She was employed at Shanhouse for 28 years. Patsy Sue was a member of Brister Baptist Church, loved her flowers, and collecting owls and bird figurines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mavis Wheatley Williams and Sybil Dodson Smart; brother John D. Dodson; and niece Janice Wheatley Edgecomb.

Patsy Sue is survived by her husband of 66 years, Larry Yates; daughter Bonnie Benefield and husband Mike of Emerson; son Randy Yates and wife Debra of Emerson; five grandchildren, Aimee and Dewayne Waller of Emerson, Emily and Jonathan Baird of Magnolia, Jeremy and Paige Yates of Bossier City, La., Keli and Brett Dailey of Andover, Kan., and Jordan and Holly Yates of Emerson; 10 great-grandchildren, Ty and Cade Waller, Addie Leigh, Piper, Haddon, Josiah and Judah Baird, Luke Yates, and Jonah and Juliet Dailey; niece Cheryl Smart Erman and husband Tom of St. Louis, Mo.; and nephew George Wheatley and wife Kathy of Springdale.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Brister Baptist Church with Dr. Eric Goble officiating. Burial will be at Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.
