SAU volleyball hires graduate assistant

Southern Arkansas head volleyball coach Britney Davis announced the newest addition to her staff for the upcoming 2018 season with the hiring of Meg Grose to a graduate assistant position.

In her first season, Grose will oversee day-to-day volleyball operations among several other responsibilities within the program, which will include working specifically with the SAU setters.

Grose comes to Magnolia and joins Coach Davis’ staff after a collegiate playing career at NAIA-Division I Peru State College (Neb.). A four-year starting setter for the Bobcats from 2014-2017 and a two-time team captain as a junior and senior, Grose recorded 1,405 assists at 3.94 assists per set and 112 service aces to finish with career marks among the program’s top 10 in both statistical categories. Additionally, Grose notched 535 career digs.

In her four years at PSC, Grose helped lead the program to a combined 94 wins, the winningest four-season stretch since the turn of the millennium, which included three seasons with 24 or more victories and an impressive 32-9 mark in 2016.

A standout prep player at Peoria High School (Ariz.), Grose was a four-year starting setter for the Panthers where she garnered All-District, All-Section and All-State honors.

Grose, a native of Peoria, AZ, brings a strong volleyball IQ, quality coaching experience and strong leadership skills in addition to her collegiate and prep playing experience to the Mulerider Volleyball program.

Since 2013, Grose has been involved with multiple club teams which included coaching 14-, 15-, and 16-year-olds at the White Tank Mountain Volleyball Club and the American Sports Center in Avondale-Goodyear, Arizona. During those stints, Grose was responsible for on-court coaching, practice planning, and player and skill development.

Additionally, Grose assisted the 15u National Team for Club Legacy in Omaha, Nebraska. Most recently, Grose worked for Code Blue Volleyball on the campus of PSC where she organized and conducted team practices and games as well as developed and coordinated competitive programs, while also focusing on player and skill development.

Grose graduated from Peru State College in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. During her time at PSC, Grose was a four-time honoree on the Dean’s List and a two-time Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete. As a senior, Grose was named an NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.

Her high academic achievement was a part of the Bobcat Volleyball Program earning American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Honors in all four of her seasons, while the team also ranked in the Top 10 academically among NAIA programs in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Furthermore, Grose was a four-year member of the Bobcats’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served as the organization’s vice president from 2016-2018.
