MONDAY - Apr. 23

Learn how to take better care of your diabetes by signing up for the free Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP). TUESDAY - Apr. 24

Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church will host a Laundry Love event 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Main Street Laundry, 1109 E. Main in Magnolia. Coins and detergent will be provided for up to three (3) normal loads per family. Drop by to do your laundry for free.

Taylor Elementary School will hold kindergarten registration in the Taylor cafeteria at 6 p.m. For the 2018-2019 school year, a child must be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2018. Please have the following records: proof of physical examination (within 2 years of enrollment date), up-to-date immunization record, birth certificate or state approved proof of age, Social Security card or state approved proof of SSN, two proofs of residency in the Emerson-Taylor-Bradley School District OR submit School Choice application *ON or BEFORE May 1, Medicaid card if child is covered by Medicaid. The CALL will be hosting an informational meeting at 6:15pm. at New Life Community Church, 2020 N. Washington in Magnolia. If you are interested in finding out more about helping children in foster care through fostering, adopting or volunteering, this meeting is for you. You will find out more about The CALL, be able to have your questions answered and get an overview of the entire process. There is no obligation. Childcare is not provided.

WEDNESDAY - Apr. 25

Families and Children Together (FACT) has scheduled a meeting of the Policy Council at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the FACT central office at 2720 Vine Street in El Dorado and is open to the public.

Harvest Regional Food Bank will distribute USDA commodities directly from their truck 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Lafayette County Fair Grounds, 1360 Hwy 82 in Lewisville. Pantry boxes will be provided to the first 160 qualifying households.

Families and Children Together (FACT) has scheduled a meeting of the Board of Directors at 2:45 p.m. The meeting will be held at the FACT central office at 2720 Vine Street in El Dorado and is open to the public.

SATURDAY - Apr. 28

There will be a 20-year reunion of the Walker School Hornet basketball team that won the 1998 Class B State Championship at 1 p.m. at the Walker Gym. The team was coached by Danny Walker. All former players, cheerleaders, school officials, parents, grandparents and fans are invited to the reunion.

The 4th Annual Dustin Bettis Memorial Scholarship Car & Truck Show will take place 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the parking lot of Immanuel Baptist Church, 1823 E. North St. in Magnolia. LifeShare Blood Center will hold a blood drive 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Dustin Bettis Memorial, 1823 E. North Street in Magnolia. To sign up to donate or for more information, call 903-794-3173.

The Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC) Board of Directors will be at 10 a.m. at the CADC office in Benton, 321 Edison Ave. The public is invited.

Logoly State Park will offer “The Art of Wire Wrapped Stones” 2-4 p.m. Wire wrapping allows you to display the natural beauty of your stones without having to alter the stone in any way. Rough stones and crystals as well as tumbled stones can be wrapped. Techniques for wire wrapping with beads to make rings, bracelets and earrings will also be discussed. There is a $20 fee for the workshop that covers jewelry pliers, jewelry wire, and a bag of polished stones. Reservations are required. Call 870-695-3561 for more details or to make a reservation.

Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church is having an All You Can Eat Open Faced Taco fundraiser 5-7 p.m. at intersection of Columbia Roads 15 and 200. Tickets are $10 for ages 13 and up, $5 for children 5-12, under 5 free. Dine in or take out. Ticket includes tea and dessert.

SATURDAY - May 12

The annual Harmony Cemetery Association meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Harmony United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Lunch will be provided by the board after the meeting. All those with family, friends, or reserved plots in Harmony Cemetery are invited to attend.

The Ware’s Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting in the Ware’s Chapel Church at 11 a.m. All members and others who are interested in the Ware’s Chapel Cemetery are encouraged to attend. Steve’s 29th Annual Youth Fishing Derby will be held 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the armory pond and duck pond at SAU. Pre-K throughsixth grade are eligible to participate. Entries are limited, so register as early as you can to ensure participation. Registration forms are to be turned in at Steve’s Outdoor Sports, 606 W. Main in Magnolia.
