LETTER TO THE EDITOR

There is a gross difference between Magnolia Memorial Park and 23rd Psalms cemeteries. Both are Perpetual Care Cemeteries that are owned by the same people/company.

Magnolia Memorial has paved roads with curbs, while 23rd Psalms Cemetery has gravel roads with rotten landscape timbers. The roads are so narrow in 23rd Psalms that one has to either run over a shrub or back up several times to make a turn. The roads become very muddy and messy when it rains. Every funeral and burial won’t be on a good day.

Magnolia Memorial has a substantial stone sign, while 23rd Psalms has a rotten, faded wooden sign of which half has fallen to the ground. It also has foliage overgrowth so severe that the funeral directors complain about getting their hearses scratched up.

So where is our money going? It costs $750 for a burial plot and $500 to open and close a grave at 23rd Psalms. That’s $1,250 to have someone buried.

It’s obvious to me that a huge profit is made off of 23rd Psalms Cemetery while there is very little beautification and no up-keep.

Those who have loved ones buried at 23rd Psalms, go take a look at each cemetery and decide for yourself. I will assume that you care as much for your deceased loved ones as those buried at Magnolia Memorial Park.
