Magnolia tennis handles Fairview and other teams

CAMDEN - Magnolia's Kevin Zhao and Daniel Reyes blanked their opponents on the tennis court Tuesday at Camden.

Zhao defeated Camden Fairview's Aaron Hopson 6-0, 6-0 and Reyes downed Austin Greeny 6-0, 6-0. In girls' doubles, Hunter Nix and Taylor Bayles got past Camden Fairview's Cardina Carr and Payton Smith 6-4, 6-4. Aletha Rich and Roni Morris defeated Heather Venya and Savannah Tropp 6-4, 6-1.

Magnolia also competed against several other teams over the past few days.

On Monday, the Panthers defeated Parkers Chapel 3-1, while the Lady Panthers lost 3-1. Zhao downed Josh Arrington 6-2, 6-0 in singles, while Reyes defeated Austin Looney 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

In doubles, Keith Watson and Tristan Malone lost 6-02, 6-2, while Peyton Carter and Blake Prince won 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, 7-7.

In girls' singles, Abbie Jolly won 6-2, 6-0 and Raegan Nix lost 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Bayles/Nix lost 5-7, 6-7, 6-7 (1-7), while Rich and Morris fell 6-2, 6-1.

In junior varsity action, Jake Nielsen and Luke Adcox defeated Heath Bates and Corbin McAliffee 8-1.

On Sept. 14, the Panthers split with Hot Springs Lakeside 2-2, while the Lady Panthers were blanked 4-0.

In boys' singles, Zhao won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 and Reyes fell 6-2, 6-1. In doubles, Watson/Malone lost 6-1, 6-1 and Prince/Carter won 7-5, 4-6 (10-7).

In girls' singles, Jolly lost 6-3, 6-1 and Bayles fell 6-1, 6-2. In doubles, Morris/Rich were blanked 6-0, 6-0.

In junior varsity action, Nielsen/Adcox lost 6-3; Carson Launius/Brandon Bailey fell 6-1; and Lazanne Miller/Sierra Putney lost 6-0.

On Sept. 11 against Smackover, the junior varsity teams lost. Losing in boys' singles were Nielsen (3-6) and Kaleb Lambert (3-6). Adcox won 6-5. In doubles, Launius/Bailey lost 2-6, while Adcox/Nielsen fell 4-6. In girls' singles, Putney lost 1-6 and Sarah Nguyen fell 0-6.
