Jennie Dean Rice, 82, of Magnolia passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017. Rice was born March 2, 1935, in Canfield to Lee and Nancy Fitzgerald. She was a member of Beacon Missionary Baptist Church in Bussey and in the WMA. She loved her church and also worked on the Bussey Cemetery Committee. She deeply loved helping others, especially her husband.
Rice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Josephine Fitzgerald; and brothers, Roy Fitzgerald, Bruce Fitzgerald, Earnest Fitzgerald, and Troy Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her husband, James Rice of Magnolia; sisters, Dorothy Martin of Magnolia and Ima Jean Ebarb and husband Maurice of Keithville, La.; brother, Sam Fitzgerald of Taylor; special friend, Janie Goodson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 16, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor with Bro. Kerry Easley officiating. Interment followed at Bussey Cemetery in Taylor.
Visitation was held from 3 p.m. until service time at the Taylor Chapel.
