Symphony to rock to the music of the Beatles this Saturday

EL DORADO — Jeans ’n Classics, the Canadian rock band that specializes in performing rock ’n roll with symphony orchestras, will join forces with the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Oct. 21, for a concert celebrating the music of the Beatles.

Featuring multiple Grammy-winning lead singer David Blamires (pictured), the concert will include many Beatles favorites, including the entire Abbey Road album – the last album recorded by the Fab Four. Saturday’s concert will mark the symphony’s first appearance in the all-new Griffin Music Hall of El Dorado’s new Murphy Arts District.

Under the direction of Music Director Kermit Poling, this Beatles tribute concert will mark the return of Jeans ’n Classics to El Dorado, with the band having previously joined the symphony for the music of the Eagles, Queen, and more. Jeans ’n Classics, the brainchild of Peter Brennan, faithfully interprets the music of legendary rock and pop albums and artists with their own signature flair. Having worked with more than 100 orchestras in venues throughout North America, the group has created almost 1,000 original rock and pop orchestrations presented across 45 unique productions.

“Jeans ’n Classics is one of the world’s top bands committed to presenting the best rock music with the best symphony orchestras,” Poling said. “Brennan’s arrangements are fantastic and very true to the original records. They sell out virtually every time they come.”

Tickets range in price from $15 to $35 and are available online at southarkansassymphony.com or by calling the box office at 870-863-4547. Student, senior, and military discounts are available.

The Beatles tribute concert will feature lead singer David Blamires, born in Yorkshire, England, and raised in London, Ontario, Canada.

Blamires got his start in music as a session vocalist in Toronto, singing on thousands of jingles, album recordings, and soundtracks. As a member of the U.S.-based pat Metheny Group from 1986 to 1997, he appeared on three Grammy Award-winning albums and performed for multitudes of fans all over the world. Throughout the decade, Blamires also recorded and released his own self-titled contemporary jazz album, “The David Blamires Group,” in the U.S. and Canada.

In 1997, Blamires and his family moved from Toronto to Chicago, where he began working as a staff composer for a music and audio production company. Blamires now writes and records music for television and radio commercials for clients such as American Airlines, Coors, Proctor & Gamble, McDonald’s, Kraft, and more.

Subscriptions to the full season are still available at $150 and $120 depending on seating sections. For more information, contact the symphony at 870-863-4547.
