COY BUFORD

Coy Buford, 91, of Stephens died Monday, November 13, 2017, at his residence. He was born December 15, 1925, in Stephens to Homer and Dosha (Cleary) Buford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, six sisters, a host of nephews and nieces and daughters-in-law Anita Buford and Caraleen Buford.

He is survived by sons Steve Buford of Village and Ken Buford of El Dorado; daughters Candy McGriff and husband Dale of Star City and Beth Rowan of Stephens; grandsons Josh McGriff and wife Megan of Star City and Julian Cracchiolo and wife Lisa of Texarkana, Texas; granddaughters Kami McBryde and husband Greg of Star City and Casandra Buford of El Dorado; great-grandsons Dillon McBryde, Kolby McBryde, and Judd McGriff, all of Star City; and great-granddaughters Lacey McBryde of Star City and Haidyn Cracchiolo of Texarkana.

Coy served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, ETO Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Dist. Unit Badge, and was a Prisoner of War (POW). He also was awarded the Republic of France Legion of Honor. After serving in the Air Force he became a wildfire fighter and retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 17, at Lewis Chapel with burial following at Ebenezer Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Josh McGriff, Jackie Williams, Seth Harris, Chris Evans, Dusty Evans, and Felton Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Buford, John Hall, Mark Hall, Charles Miller, Mike Harris, Greg McBryde, and Dale Fallon.
