SAU's Bryant at NCAA outdoor track meet

SAU Sports Information

Junior sprinter Kenisha Bryant is representing SAU and competing at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Shet will compete in a single event, the women’s 400m hurdles. Prelims for the event were ran Thursday night. Finals for the 400m hurdles will be ran on Saturday.

There will be three preliminary heats ran, and Bryant, who enters with the 15th-fastest time in the event at 1:00.23, will run in Heat No. 1 and be placed in Lane No. 3.

Bryant’s heat features the third and fourth-fastest seeded times in Alyssabeth Dejerez of Humbolt State (58.68) and Jessica Scherrer of Adams State (58.73).

Bryant's selection in the 400m hurdles makes her the first SAU women's track athlete to compete at the National Championships since the program was restarted in the Fall of 2014.

For Bryant, she earned the selection after posting the 15th fastest time in Division II in the event with an altitude adjusted time of 1:00.23 at the West Texas A&M "Last Chance" Meet on May 14. Her time, which was the fifth-fastest in the Central Region, garnered her USTFCCCA All-Central Region plaudits in the event. It also established a new SAU record as she bettered her previous record time of 1:00.99 set back in 2016. Bryant will be among a field of 22 female athletes competing for the DII National Championship in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
