SAU baseball showcases planned for June 6, 8

Southern Arkansas will host a pair of baseball camps for athletes next month.

The senior showcase" camp is set for Tuesday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field.

The elite showcase will be held Thursday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The senior showcase is open to unsigned 2017 high school seniors and will provide the opportunity for those prospects to display their skills on the diamond.

Cost for the showcase is $50 per prospect.

Each participant is responsible for bringing his own workout clothes and equipment.

The deadline to enroll for the showcase is June 5.

The elite showcase is for high school players who will graduate from 2018-2020 and will provide the opportunity for those wanting to play at the collegiate level to display their skills.

Cost is $150 per player and includes a SAU baseball shirt.

Again, each participant is responsible workout clothes and equipment.

A one-hour lunch break will be from noon to 1 p.m. and campers will be responsible for their own lunch.

For the senior showcase, a facilities tour, campus tour, and NCAA eligibility discussion will be available for campers.

The deadline to enroll for the showcase is June 5 with a cutoff of 60 campers.

Required registration, liability and emergency consent forms are necessary.

Instruction and evaluation for both showcases will be provided by the SAU baseball staff and players.

The Mulerider baseball team recently won its fourth Great American Conference regular season championship since 2012, and is advancing to their 9th NCAA Regional Tournament in the last 10 years. The Muleriders have also extended their streak of winning 30 or more games in a season to 17-straight.
