Larry Gene Gunnels, 78, of Magnolia passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at his residence.
Larry was born on September 5, 1938, in Magnolia. He was a member of the Antioch East Baptist Church and served in the United States Army.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jefferson and Myrtle Nellie (Young) Gunnels; wife Lana Jo Gunnels; and two infant brothers.
He is survived by his sons, Danny Gunnels and wife Julie of Emerson, and Jody Gunnels and wife Annette of Magnolia; grandchildren, Sidney Gunnels of Magnolia, and Kinsley, Kagen, and Karley Gunnels of Emerson; brothers, Gaylord Gunnels of Magnolia and Glen Gunnels and wife Gail of Magnolia; sisters, Nell Dees of Magnolia and Libby Lewis and husband Carroll of Magnolia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donnie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Antioch East Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be held Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Allan Baker, Gaylon Gunnels, Jeff Gunnels, Randy Gunnels, Matt Young, and Tim Wooley. Honorary pallbearer will be C.W. Young.
