‘Bark at the Park’ donations given to H&P Animal Alliance

The Southern Arkansas University Athletic Department is pleased to announce that, thanks to the generosity and attendance of its fans at both “Bark at the Park” games this spring, a $500 donation was made to the H&P Animal Alliance to help support their Spay and Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP).

The donation was made on behalf of the SAU Athletic Department, and Director of Athletics, Steve Browning and Senior Woman Administrator/Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, Kasey Wylie presented the donation to Holli Howard, H&P Animal Alliance volunteer.

“’Bark at the Park’ is one of my personal favorite community events we do in a given year,” said Browning. “I know many of our fans look forward to it as well, and we were fortunate to have good weather each date and we also had really great crowds. We are grateful for the generosity of our fans in helping Mulerider Athletics positively impact a local organization.”

Now in its fifth year, SAU Athletics hosted its first “Bark at the Park” game this year on Saturday, April 15 at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field for SAU Baseball’s doubleheader against Harding.

A week later, “Bark at the Park” returned, and was held at Dawson Field at the Mulerider Softball Complex as SAU Softball hosted Arkansas Tech.

“SAU’s ‘Bark in the Park’ has been a big help to H&P Animal Alliance,” remarked Howard. “This year all money raised will go to our low-cost spay and neuter program for low income Columbia County residents. This program helps us get to the root of the problem; the over population of unwanted dogs and cats in the area. Neutering/spaying even a few dogs or cats can stop the euthanasia of hundreds of animals per year.”

About H&P Animal Alliance

H&P Animal Alliance is a foster-based 501c3 dog rescue.

Pulling dogs from overcrowded shelters in south Arkansas, H&P Animal Alliance has them vetted, and finds them loving homes. They also transport shelter dogs to their northern rescue partners where they are matched up with their forever homes.

Their low-cost spay and neuter program, SNIP, has helped over 200 families with the costs associated with having their pets fixed.

Having no paid staff, H&P Animal Alliance relies on donations to help with vet bills and transportation costs.
