Goad, Dow, Roye are named NFCA All-Central Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Brooke Goad, Maddie Dow, and Jill Roye have been the 1-2-3 hitters not only in Southern Arkansas' lineup most of the season, but also on the stat sheet as they have produced a pick-your-poison top of the order.

On Wednesday, the All-GAC First-Team trio added some more postseason awards as they were lauded as NFCA All-Central Region players.

Maddie Dow (1B) and Jill Roye (DP) were named to the first-team at their respective positions, while Brooke Goad made the second-team in the outfield.

For Dow and Goad, this year's honor is the second-career NFCA All-Central Region selection, while Roye earned her first all-region plaudit.

Dow previously was a second-teamer in 2014 and Goad a first-teamer last year.

Dow, a native of Bonham, Texas, was recently named the Great American Conference's Player of the Year.

She currently leads the league in Batting Average (.421), Slugging Percentage (.906), On-Base Percentage (.599), Home Runs (21), Total Bases (144), Walks (52), and Hit-By-Pitch (23). Additionally, Dow ranks in the Top-5 in the GAC in Runs Scored (2nd – 65) and Runs Batted In (2nd – 59)

Named a Top-25 finalist for the NFCA Division II Player of the Year, Dow, currently ranks in the Top-10 nationally in Home Runs (1st – 21), On-Base Percentage (2nd - .599), Walks (4th – 52), Slugging Percentage (6th - .906), and Total Bases (7th – 144).

In terms of career marks, Dow ranks in the Top-5 All-Time nationally in Walks (2nd – 173) and Home Runs (4th – 73).

Roye, a native of McAlester, Okla., was recently named the GAC's Newcomer of the Year after a sensational offensive year as the Lady Muleriders' designated player.

Currently, Roye ranks in the Top-10 in the GAC in in eight (8) major offensive categories including Hits (3rd – 73), RBIs (1st – 64) and Home Runs (T-4th – 12). Her RBI total is also the seventh-most currently in DII and a SAU season record.

She has had 20 games with multiple RBIs and twice has driven in five (5) or more.

Goad, a native of Waxahachie, Texas, was on the 2017 Schutt Sports/NFCA DII Player of Year Preseason Watch List prior to the start of the season. A returning NFCA All-America Second-Team selection last year, Goad currently ranks in the Top-10 in the GAC in eight (8) major offensive categories including Doubles (2nd – 16), Home Runs (2nd – 18) and Total Bases (2nd – 134). Additionally, Goad leads the league in Runs Scored (66). Her Runs Scored total is a SAU season record and is tied for the GAC season record.

In terms of national rankings, Goad currently ranks in the Top-10 in DII in Home Runs (5th – 18), Runs Per Game (9th – 1.20), and Walks (5th – 45).
