AMOS ELMORE

Amos Thomas Elmore, 77, of Magnolia died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1939, in Prescott to George and Lettie Lois (Shelts) Elmore.

He entered into the Army National Guard on Oct. 18, 1956, and retired from the United States Army on April 31, 1981, after serving 25 years. After the military, he was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 15 years. He was a faithful and active member of Antioch East Baptist Church.

Amos was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Randy and Tony Elmore; and sister, Patsy Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie Sue Elmore of Magnolia; brothers, James Elmore and wife Marie of Haynesville, La., and Ricky Elmore and wife Pearl of Magnolia; sister, Joyce Newman and husband Hal of McNeil; sister-in-law, Frankie Couch Elmore of Magnolia; a number of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Antioch East Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Owen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Antioch East Cemetery, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., of Magnolia.
