Magnolia vs. Taylor in softball on Saturday

HOPE - The Magnolia Lady Panthers went 2-1 at the DMAC (Debra McMasters) Tournament in Hope last weekend.

Magnolia got past Bismark 7-6, beat Ouachita 8-1 and lost to Hector 1-0.

In action against Ouachita, Magnolia took the lead late in the game that was played on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers trailed 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning when Kendall McMahen doubled and drove in three runs.

After another run, they were up 4-1. Magnolia added one more run in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Caitlyn McCormack earned the win in the circle.

She went six innings, surrendering one run, five hits, striking out six, and walking zero.

The Lady Panthers 10 hits.

Alex Whaley, Grace Basinger, and Kendall McMahen each collected multiple hits, while McMahen had four runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day.

Against Bismark, McMahen's walk-off home run led Magnolia to the victory.

The game was tied 6-6 with Magnolia batting in the bottom of the fifth when McMahen homered and drove in one run.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Magnolia collected seven hits and Bismarck eight

Grace Basinger earned the win, tossing five innings, giving up six runs, eight hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Home runs for Magnolia came when Powell homered in the second inning and McMahen homered in the fifth. Whaley and McMahen each collected multiple hits for Magnolia.

Powell went 1-for-1 at the plate as she led the team with three runs batted in.

The Lady Panthers are scheduled to host Taylor at 11 a.m. Saturday.
