CCAPS is having half-price adoptions during the month of July. They urge you to see them to find your friend and companion. Adoption of cats and kittens is $35; puppies under 6 months, $50; puppies and dogs over 6 months, $45. Located at 501 W. Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Laundry Love event at Main Street Laundry, 1109 E. Main in Magnolia, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Coins and laundry detergent will be provided for up to 3 loads per family.

At 6 p.m. in the administration building, the Magnolia School District will hold a public information meeting regarding the upcoming millage election.

WEDNESDAY - July 26

Compassion’s Foundation, Inc., Living Water Domestic Violence Shelter will hold its Salad Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1300 E. University in Magnolia. The featured salad is a chef salad. Salads will include lettuce, ham, turkey, cheese, boiled egg slices, tomatoes, and ranch dressing. Salads are $5 or donations accepted. MONDAY- July 31

Emerson Elementary School will host a Kindergarten Camp 8-11 a.m. today and tomorrow for all incoming kindergarteners for 2017-2018. The purpose of this camp is to get your child acquainted with the elementary campus, routines and procedures, and his or her teacher. As you arrive in the morning, please bring your child to the elementary library. At this time a parent orientation will be held to inform you of school expectations and procedures. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is accepting scholarships for the 2017 C. Darline Shepherd Scholarship. Two scholarships valued at $500 will be awarded. Email [email protected] for scholarship criteria and application. Today is the deadline for submission of the application packet.

LifeShare is having a blood drive at Walmart, 79 By-Pass North in Magnolia, 3-7 p.m. The blood drive will be in the LifeShare Bus and is open to the public.

Village Community Center will hold its annual steak supper 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and must be bought or reserved in advance. Meal includes steak, dessert, and trimmings. SATURDAY - Aug. 5

Magnolia Jr. Charity League’s Cram the Bus will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Wal-Mart parking lot. Early drop-off of supplies can be made at Stephens Country Store or Jennifer’s on the Square. Supplies will be delivered to Magnolia Schools and Emerson/Taylor Schools.

WEDNESDAY - Aug. 9

SAYS/Family Care Fair will hold its Back to School Bash from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 301 S. Boundary Street in Magnolia. There will be Free food and school supplies. Food will be served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Parents and kids MUST be present to receive school supplies, no exceptions. School supplies will be given until all supplies are gone. LifeShare is having a blood drive 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lafayette County High School, 712 Chestnut Street in Lewisville. The blood drive is part of LifeShare Blood Centers’ 2017-2018 LifeScholars program. The program is designed to honor students who demonstrate community service and leadership by becoming regular blood donors.
