JOHN JAMESON

John Travis Jameson, 82, recently of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. He was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Columbia County to John Jefferson and Nellie (Camp) Jameson.

John was a graduate of Southern Arkansas University and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He later became an auditor for Kroger for 40 years. John was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockwall.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Nell Jameson; niece, Jamie Baker; and brother-in-law, Dave Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janie Jameson; three daughters, Cynthia Allen and husband Terry, Melissa Moseley and husband Tim, and Christi Knight and husband Derrick; eight grandchildren, Joshua and wife Sarah, Jonah and wife Rebecca, Jared and wife Ally, Travis and wife Alex, Sarah and husband Dustin, Chase and wife Marissa, Collin and Carson; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Noah, Aubrey, Addie, Jameson, Finnley, Lydia and three more babies expected very soon; brother, Harold Jameson and wife Betty; sister, Sue Smith; and many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad St. in Rockwall, with Pastor Steve Swofford officiating and Rev. Tom Wilbanks assisting. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Magnolia. Private interment will be at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Magnolia.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel.
