Bank robbery suspect arrested

A suspect was arrested around 12 noon Friday, Feb. 17, in connection with the Tuesday, Feb. 14 armed robbery at Peoples Bank Lakewood Banking Center on Hwy. 79 in Magnolia.

According to a statement released Friday afternoon by the Magnolia Police Department, Marshun Stevvon J. Scott, 27, of Jonesboro, was arrested in Little Rock on a warrant for aggravated robbery and theft of property over $5,000. Bond has been set at $1 million.

Scott was held at the Pulaski County Jail until being transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility, where he will be held pending a first appearance hearing. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office website, Scott was booked into the county jail at 8:14 p.m. Friday.

According to a report from MPD Capt. Michael Caldwell on the scene Tuesday morning, the bank was open when the robbery occurred. He said a single subject with a gun entered the bank and committed the robbery. At that point, the amount of cash taken was not known. Caldwell said no injuries were reported.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police assisted with the investigation.
