Muleriders playing GAC baseball games

Southern Arkansas opens its Great American Conference baseball season with a road series at Southeastern Oklahoma.

The teams will play a single game today starting at 2 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

The Muleriders enter play this weekend with a 3-3 overall record. They began the year 3-0, but have dropped their last three games to even their record early on.

The Muleriders are hitting .283 as a team and have a 4.50 team ERA. Through the first six games, they have scored 37 runs offensively while the pitching staff already lays claim to a combined shutout.

Individually, the Muleriders have four players hitting over .350 with newcomers Mark Fontenot and Cory Gallegos leading the club at .462 and .412 respectively. Senior outfielder Trevor Rucker is next in hitting at .381, and his two homeruns. Cortland McPherson is the final batter over .350 with an average of .357 through five games played.

Southeastern Oklahoma is hitting .225 as a team with eight doubles, a triple, a homerun, and 21 runs scored. Their leading hitter is Hunter Harrison at .333. Harrison also has their lone homerun. On the mound, Brandon Wolski has the lowest ERA at 1.04 in 8.2 innings pitched.
