SAU basketball teams on the road tonight for GAC games against Ouachita Baptist

The Southern Arkansas Muleriders, after beating No. 17 UAM on Monday, return to GAC action tonight in Arkadelphia against Ouachita Baptist.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

SAU continues to position itself for a berth in the upcoming GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla.

Currently, the Muleriders are in a three-way tie for sixth place with Henderson State and OBU. They are one game back of Saturday's opponent, Harding, for the current fifth-place in the league standings.

Saturday will the Muleriders' final home game and Senior Day for four athletes on the team. They are Babajide Aina, Tony Aska, De'Sean Dockery, and Denarious Lockhart.

SAU enters play tonight with an 11-13 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the GAC, while OBU is 11-11 and 9-9.

On the season, the Muleriders are averaging 72.4 points per game, which ranks ninth in the GAC.

Defensively, they rank fifth in scoring defense in the GAC at 72.8 points per game, and their -0.4 scoring margin ranks 10th in the league.

Individually, three players are averaging double figures. CJ Elkins leads with a 16.6 average, followed by Dockery at 10.7.

Snyder Cenecharles rounds out double figure scoring with a 10.4 ppg average. The leading rebounder is Lockhart with 8.5 rebounds per game.

The Tigers are averaging 75.5 points per game offensively, and are allowing 73.9 points per game defensively.

Three Tigers are averaging double-figures in scoring with Lakee Westbrook leading with a 17.4 points per game average.

Justin McCleary averages 13.8 and Carven Holcolmbe averages 11.4.

Holcolmbe is also the team's leading rebounder at 7.3 rebounds per game.

Lady Muleriders vs.

Ouachita Baptist

The Lady Muleriders will take on Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 tonight in Arkadelphia and close the regular season at home Saturday afternoon against 20th-ranked Harding..

Ouachita is currently 10-14 overall, 7-11 in league play and a single game back of the eighth and final GAC tournament spot.

The Lady Muleriders are 5-17 overall, 3-15 in league play and are currently fighting to remain in the hunt for a tournament berth in March.

SAU is in the midst of a seven-game losing streak with four games remaining in the regular season. Offensively, SAU scores at an average of 59.9 points per game and owns the sixth-best scoring defense in the conference at 69.6 points per game.

The Lady Tigers have lost three of their past four games.

The last time, a strong defensive effort in the second half by SAU allowed the Lady Muleriders to claim a 62-55 win at home against Ouachita.

The Lady Tigers received a dozen points apiece from Madison Brittain and Chasidee Owens, while Kimberly Crown led SAU in scoring with 16 points.
