The annual General John Porter McCown memorial service was held in Magnolia City Cemetery on Saturday morning. Members of the Thomas P. Dockery Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Camp 1577, Elbert Steele SCV Camp 1623, Red Diamond SCV Camp 2193, Columbia Memorial United Daughters of the Confederacy, Arkansas Division of Children of the Confederacy, and other groups were in attendance. The speaker for the event was Earl McCown, great-nephew of Gen. McCown and one of his few living descendants.
