MJHS Honor Court

Magnolia Junior High School held their first Mr. and Miss MJHS Honor Court. Anna Dodson and Maurice Strickland were voted Mr. and Miss MJHS by their peers.

The court resembles a traditional homecoming court; however there are a few differences. The entire student body was granted access to the application process, as long as they met the following requirements:

  1. Students must have received zero discipline referrals.

  2. Students had to post a 2.5 grade point average, as verified by the first five weeks’ progress report.

  3. Students had to secure one teacher recommendation.

Once students were properly screened, all applicants that met the application requirements were required to write a persuasive essay, in school, convincing the judges as to why he or she should be selected to serve on the honor court. Each essay was scored blindly by a panel of judges.

Five male and female students from each grade level were selected to round out the honor court.
