Lady Muleriders fourth in final poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has released the final NCAA DII Top-25 Coaches Poll of the 2016 season and the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders enter with their highest ranking in program history as they have been tabbed fourth in the nation after embarking on a historical postseason run to the NCAA DII Women's College Softball World Series.

The Lady Muleriders (53-11) finished the 2016 campaign with a school record 53 wins that included a 12-3 mark in the postseason as the program captured their second Great American Conference Tournament Championship, their first Central Region Championship, and their first trip to the NCAA DII Women's College Softball World Series in Denver this past weekend.

At the World Series, Southern Arkansas posted a 2-2 record including wins against No. 8 Charleston and No. 5 West Texas A&M to battle back to the semifinals, while their two losses came to National Champion and NFCA No. 1 North Alabama.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
