The Blue and You Health Sciences Simulation Center at Southern Arkansas University was dedicated Tuesday in honor of a $149,128 grant received from the Blue & You Foundation. A simulation demonstration was held in the Wharton Nursing parking lot, and the dedication ceremony was held at the Sturgis Lecture Hall. The grant from Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue & You Foundation supported the purchase of equipment for the Health Sciences Simulation Center. Items purchased included hospital beds, crash carts, AED trainer, CPR trainers, mobile medication center and audio-visual recording equipment. SAU now has a facility to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students and professionals. Simulation bridges the gap between theoretical learning and clinical practice. It allows nursing students to learn the art and science of patrient interaction, decision making and clinical care skills.
