AXTELL, Neb. – Southern Arkansas' Helle Leed was three shots better in Tuesday's second round of the 2016 NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament as she shot a plus 4 (76).

The regional tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,211-yard Awarii Dunes Golf Club in Axtell, Neb.

Leed, who shot a plus 7 (79) on Monday, lowered her score on Tuesday thanks to a five-birdie round and is currently tied for 32nd-place among the field of 66 golfers.

She started her second round on fire as she was two-under through the first five holes. Getting her to two-under were birdies on two and three and made pars on one, four, and five. Leed bogeyed six and eight, but pars on seven and nine put her at even-par through the front-nine. A par on 10 and a birdie on 11 put Leed at one-under, but a double bogey on 12 pushed her one-over. After making par on 13, Leed shot plus 5 over the next three holes to put her at six-over for the round. Despite that tough stretch, Leed ended her round on a high note, making birdie on her final two holes to end the round at four-over.

Leed will teed once more from this morning as she closes out the three-round tournament.
