THURSDAY - Feb. 11

J.J. Jones of The Center for Food Integrity in Gladstone, Mo., will present “A New Conversation About Food…Why it is needed?” at Southern Arkansas University’s Foundation Hall at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Dorcheat Public Water Authority of Arkansas will have its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m.

“Once Upon a Murder” will be presented Feb. 11-13 at 7 p.m. at Magnolia Arts Center, 116 S. Washington. Advance tickets only.

SATURDAY - Feb. 13

The Columbia County Landfill will be closed. They will open for regular business on Tuesday Feb. 16. WCA will run its regular routes.

MONDAY - Feb. 15

The Boys & Girls Club of Magnolia Steak Dinner will be from 5-6:30 p.m. (pick-up only) in the B&GC parking lot. World Championshp Steak Cookers Farmers Bank & Trust and Arnold Baker Chevrolet will be cooking. The meal will include a 12-oz., 1-inch thick ribeye steak, baked potato, salad, and roll. Tickets are $20. Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

All Columbia County offices will be closed in observance of President’s Day. WCA will run its regular routes.

TUESDAY - Feb. 16

There will be a “Meet and Greet” for Judge Dan Kemp, candidate for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Arkansas at the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce from 12-1 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

WEDNESDAY - Feb. 17

Harvest Regional Food Bank will be in Waldo from 10 a.m.-12 noon at the C.W. Easter Recreation Center, at 902 E. McKissack St. in Waldo.

TUESDAY - Feb. 23

Today is the final day for the Boys and Girls Club Wes Weiser Scholarship applications to be completed.

Greers Chapel United Methodist Church will sponsor a “Laundry Love Event” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Main Street Laundry, 1109 E. Main St. Coins and laundry detergent will be provided for three normal loads per family.

SUNDAY - Feb. 28

The 12th Annual African-American History Celebration of Youth: Remembering Our Heritage is set for 2:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on the SAU campus. At least 25 area high school seniors have already agreed to speak briefly on what black history means to them. Others still interested in participating should contact Bethlehem Youth Director Chris Gilliam as soon as possible. There will be other youth talent and a special young adult speaker from SAU. The event is sponsored by Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth Department, SAU Office of Multicultural Services, Albemarle Foundation, Columbia County Community Foundation and CSNS Fashion & Men’s Wear. WEDNESDAY - March 2

Violin virtuoso Jaime Jorge will be presented in concert at 1 p.m. at the Columbia Christian School gym. Admission is free, and everyone is invited.

SATURDAY - March 19

The 6th Annual CSNS Fashion & Men’s Wear Style Show and Scholarship Dinner is set for 5 p.m. at the SAU Reynolds Center. Tickets are $25 each and proceeds go towards scholarships to high school seniors enrolling at SAU in the fall semester. Scholarships are in the amount of $250 and given to two or three students each fall. The fundraising dinner has made it possible for 16 students to receive scholarships over the years.
