BRANDON BLACKWELL - Mag

Brandon Blackwell, 28, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 12, 1988, in El Dorado to Russell Blackwell and Elaine Harkrider Blackwell.

Brandon worked as a chemical engineer at GE Betz and Albemarle Corporation in Magnolia. He graduated from Smackover High School as valedictorian and received an award for reading the most books. Brandon went on to graduate in 2010 from Louisiana Tech University with his BS. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, cooking and hiking with his dog Molly. Brandon had posted many of his adventures in cooking and hiking on Youtube under Arkansas Redneck2.

Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Paul Harkrider and Sonya Lancaster. Brandon has gone fishing again with Poppa Lester Lancaster.

Survivors include his wife of five years, Michelle Lewis Blackwell of El Dorado; his parents, Russell and Elaine Blackwell of Smackover; his sister, Delaina Blackwell of Bossier City, La.; a nephew, Aaron Rogers of Bossier City; his in-laws, Gae Hays (Chuck) of El Dorado and Robert Thornton (Vickie) of Smackover; maternal grandparents, Bob and Mary Evans of Smackover; and paternal grandparents, Don and Jewell Blackwell of Smackover.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at First Baptist Church of Smackover with Rev. Carley Davis and Bro. Robert Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Directors.
