SAU Sports Information

SAU head women's basketball coach Julio Pacheco has finalized his 2016-17 coaching staff with the addition of Gabriela Martins as a graduate assistant.

Martins, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, comes to SAU after finishing her collegiate playing career with a two-year tenure at Lyon College in Batesville. Prior to that, Martins played two seasons at Midland College in Midland, Texas.

While at both schools, Martins was a part of 102 wins and played on teams that won 27 or more games three times including a 30-4 mark in her final season at Lyon. Prior to her collegiate basketball days, Martins played club basketball in Brazil for eight years. Martins also played on Brazil's Women's U16 National Basketball Team where she served as the team captain.

A double-major at Lyon, Martins earned degrees in Business Administration (Finance) and Economics in the spring of 2016. Her work in the classroom at Lyon earned Martins a spot on the conference's All-Academic Team both years.

Martins is currently pursuing her master's degree in Business Administration at SAU.
