A drive is underway locally for books to be delivered to the library at Denham Springs, La., Elementary School.
Gail Chambers, daughter of Judge Rodney and Carolyn Chambers of Magnolia, is principal at Denham Springs Elementary School. The recent flood destroyed all the books in the school’s library. These students are ages 4-11. Via her Facebook page, Chambers reported this photo “…was not during the crest. It seems the water went about 18-24 inches higher than pictures here.”
Donations of children’s hardback books - in reasonably good shape - appropriate for youth that age are being collected. Books may be taken to Jennifer’s on the Square and to the Columbia County Library. Judge Chambers is going to Denham Springs shortly and will be delivering them to Gail for her school. Any donations for this school library will be appreciated.
