Pastor Barbara Lewis’ sermon at Emerson UM Church Sunday morning was “They Will Know You by Your Name” with scripture from Exodus 3:1-15.

This reminds us of Moses’ encounter with the burning bush. God called him several times before he responded. He didn’t know God in a personal way. He didn’t know God’s name. He didn’t know the holiness of God’s name. In scripture, calling someone by name not once, but more often will usually get their attention. We all work to make a connection with God. Are you making a connection with God? Think about it.

LaVeda took Hannah back to Texas last Sunday so that she could start school on Monday. She stayed until Thursday. She got to take Hannah to school in the mornings and spent the day playing with Brenton and Maddie, then picked up Hannah from school. Hannah and Laveda cleaned out her closet and her drawers to make room for all her new clothes she brought back from Magnolia and Tennessee. Sweet Maddie is growing so fast, and developing quite a personality. Can’t wait to go back to see her.

LaVeda’s sister, Judy and her husband Larry Strickland, from Dardanelle came to see Janie Sue Evans, Friday. Joe and LaVeda went down and all had supper and a nice visit.

Jimmy and I attended the Albemarle Steak and Bingo Supper Saturday night at the Magnolia High School Cafeteria. Charles Franks and Taryn also attended and sat beside us. This was Charles first one as a new Albemarle worker. Linda Shepherd of Magnolia and Ruth Kyle spent Tuesday to Friday visiting with Inez Evers of Natchez, Miss.

I spent last week going to Doctor’s appointments in Texarkana and El Dorado. Boy, nothing wears you out like that. Jimmy does the driving and I just ride. I don’t do much driving other than locally any more. I thank God that he’s here to drive me back and forth.
