DIARY

Last night’s shopping experience at Walmart was well-monitored by law enforcement personnel. We couldn’t help but notice at least a dozen police officers and deputy sheriffs making sure Christmas shopping didn’t get out of hand when the clock struck 6 p.m.

People seemed happy, generous and well-behaved, though there was the usual jockeying for position once the long shopping lanes formed. What seemed to be the most popular items? Hard to say for sure, but electronics looked like they were flying off the shelves. We heard that by 10 p.m., things had quietened considerably. A relative of ours had no trouble making an exchange at that time.

Today is Black Friday. We’ll see how busy things get later in the day. Have a great weekend.
