SAU to hold baseball camp next Thursday

The four-time defending Great American Conference Champion, Southern Arkansas Mulerider baseball program, will hold its 2015 fall showcase a week next Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Goodheart Field.

The deadline to enroll for the showcase is Monday.

The showcase is for high school players who will graduate from 2016-2019 and will provide the opportunity for those wanting to play at the collegiate level to display their skills.

Cost is $100 per player and includes lunch and a t-shirt.

Each participant is responsible for bringing his own workout clothes and equipment.

Instruction and evaluation will be provided by the SAU baseball staff and players.

The Mulerider baseball team is coming off of a season in which they won their fifth-consecutive conference tournament championship and advanced to their eighth-straight NCAA regional tournament. With an overall record of 40-18 in 2015, the SAU baseball program has won 40 or more games in seven of the past 10 seasons and also has eclipsed the 30-plus win mark for the 15th-consecutive year.

The deadline to sign up for the 2015 SAU SAU Baseball Fall Instructional League is Sept. 19..

The high school fall league will consist of four teams with a maximum of 12 players per team.

Teams will be coached by Mulerider baseball staff and players, and all games will be played on Sundays starting on October 4 at Goodheart Field.

Additional dates of the Instructional League are Oct. 11, Oct. 18, and Oct. 25.

Registration is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and cost is $100 per student (includes a t-shirt).

The fall league gives students multiple opportunities to show off their talents at various positions.

The focus of the league will be playing the game of baseball at a high level, playing the right way, and improving skills in a team setting.
