‘Sparks in the Park’ to feature children’s activities, music, food

The annual fireworks extravaganza and Independence Day celebration at East Side Park called “Sparks in the Park” will be held this year on Friday, July 3. Activities will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the park with special entertainment for children and live music from the MoBetta Band among the highlights.

There will be an area specifically for children with three large inflatable Jumping Castles for the kids to play in, along with a Sand Dig filled with hidden treasures. Children will be able to keep the treasure they find while digging in the sand.

One of the stages used at the Magnolia Blossom Festival will be set up near the Boys and Girls Club, and the MoBetta Band will play live music throughout the evening. Five hundred hot dogs along with 500 bottles of water will be given away during the festivities.

A number of food vendors will also be present, and they will have drinks such as lemonade and tea available as well as food and desert items like nachos and ice cream.

The fireworks show will start a little after sunset, approximately 9 p.m., and is expected to last 20-30 minutes. After the fireworks, Magnolia Arts will present its Movie in the Park showing of “Padington Bear” sponsored by the Magnolia Rotary Club.

The public is invited to attend the festivities.
