Magnolia Mayor Parnell Vann, right, presents Ralph Weiser with a proclamation designating Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 as Ralph Weiser Day in the City of Magnolia. Weiser, a longtime resident of Magnolia, has been involved in many civic organizations such as the Rotary Club, Magnolia Airport Commission, the Oil and Gas Commission and has served on the Columbia County Quorum Court. He was awarded Citizen of The Year in 1987 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors for what is now Bancorp South as well as president of the Board of Magnolia Specialized Services, Inc., for more than 35 years. He has been involved in such community activities as a volunteer for Special Olympics, has supported the Magnolia Boys and Girls Club, Magnolia Junior Charity League Follies, Relay For Life and Partners in Education. He will celebrate his 90th birthday Friday.
