Property tax collections climb in county

Columbia County’s property tax collection payments were up to 39 percent as of Tuesday morning, according to Tax Collector Cindy Walker.

Walker said for the month of September, a total of $2,240,992.60 had been collected so far.

The total charge for the 2013 tax year for personal, real estate, and producing minerals in Columbia County was $14,426,328.05. Those taxes are billed and due to be paid in 2014.

Taxes are due to be paid by Oct. 15. Partial payments may be made on tax bills up to Oct. 15, Walker said.

Payments may be made in person at the tax collector’s office in the Columbia County Annex Building; placed in the drop box at the front of the building; mailed to P.O. Box 98, Magnolia, Ark. 71754; or paid online by going to countyofcolumbia.net.

Taxes mailed and postmarked by Oct. 15 will be considered to be paid on time. Payments made after Oct. 15 are subject to a 10 percent penalty.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
