Jimmy and I attended the Methodist Men’s Christmas Event Thursday night at Asbury UM Church in Magnolia. We had plenty of food, plenty of people and plenty of fun. We also had some good music added to the program by various people. We enjoyed it a lot.

Pastor Barbara Lewis sermon at Emerson UM Church Sunday morning was “Mary’s Song” with scripture from Luke 1:46-56. During the time Jesus was born, women had no value. Jewish girls were married off at 14-15 years old or younger. The angel, Gabriel, came to Mary and told her she was with child. How do you explain Mary’s pregnancy? She had never been with a man before. When she heard that her cousin Elizabeth was also pregnant, she went to see her.

Elizabeth said, “Mother of My Lord” when she saw Mary. Mary was fully in the Bible, etc and had a lot of faith. God knew what He was doing when he picked Mary to bear His Son. Scripture in Hebrews tells us that Enoch pleased God and was translated. We all need to live in such a way that we please God. We claim God’s promises as ours. Immanuel—God with us. Our bodies are God’s dwelling place. Think about it.

Our prayer list includes Jackie Gordon, M T and Bobbie Stevens, Scotty Covington, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Pastor Lewis, Kim Wood, Mrs. Parks, Sammy Waller, Mike Blair, Junior Franks, Austin Blake Glass Family, Dorothy Grimes, Ella Nix (about a year old) Curtis Owens, John Cary., Don Moore, Sallie Franks, Bobby Flye (Joyce Dailey’s Brother), Jim Edwards family, and Gary Christie Family. If there are any others that you want added, let me know. Don’t forget to pray for each other. O saw Bob Stevens at Wal-Mart Tuesday and he told me that Bobbie is getting stronger and better so please keep those prayers coming. She’s still at Magnolia Health and Rehab. I know that M T misses he a lot.

Joe and LaVeda Ward went to Fort Worth Thursday and attended Bro Eric's graduation Friday morning. There was a large group of family, friends and church friends in attendance. He received his doctorate. It was a beautiful ceremony! They sang Christmas carols with a choir and orchestra. Closed with "It is Well with My Soul." They marched out to the Hallelujah Chorus. I saw on Facebook where several people in the church were present for his graduation. Congratulations Bro. Eric. I know he was glad to see that many of his church family present at his graduation.

Ruth Kyle and Linda Shepherd spent Tuesday to Thursday with Harold and Inez Evers at Natchez, Miss. Aunt Inez told them to come back when they could stay longer.

Gail and Robin Bridges of Homer, LA and Mary Hollensworth and Andrew Sanders of Benton, AR were Sunday night supper guests of Louis and Eveanne George.

We’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
